Forthcoming attractions:
"GI Joe: Rise of the COBRA" is released on August 7. G.I. Joe is the star operative in an organisation called "Global Integrated Joint Operating Entity", based in Brussels but still dedicated to fighting the evil COBRA organisation, headed by a crooked Scottish arms dealer. The film is supposed to be a cross between X-Men and James Bond rather than another war movie, with lots of hi-tech gadgetry. It stars Sienna Miller, Brendan Fraser, Rachel Nichols, Dennis Quaid, Channing Tatum, and Joseph Gordon-Levitt and is directed by Stephen Sommers.
Also released on August 7 there’s "The Proposal". It’s about a nightmarishly dominating boss, who forces her young, male assistant into a marriage of convenience in the fact of her imminent deportation back to Canada. Sandra Bullock, Ryan Reynolds, Mary Steenburgen, Craig T. Nelson and Betty White are on the cast list.
A week later, "The Ugly Truth" comes out. The story follows a "romantically challenged" morning show producer, played by Katherine Heigl, who finds herself reluctantly involved in a series of outrageous tests by a chauvinistic correspondent on her show, who's attempting to prove his theories on relationships but also to help her find love. An "unexpected result", it seems, follows. Also stars Gerard Butler, Kevin Connolly , Cheryl Hines and Eric Winter.
And on August 21, "I love you, Beth Cooper" is released. The film chronicles the story of a nerdy valedictorian who proclaims his love for the hottest and most popular girl in school – Beth Cooper – during his graduation speech. Much to his surprise, Beth shows up at his door that very night and decides to show him the best night of his life. Hayden Panettiere, Samm Levine, Paul Rust, Jack Carpenter and Alan Ruck appear.

Natalie Portman is tentatively attached to play the lead in this twisty and twisted story focusing on the New York City Ballet. The story sees a veteran ballerina (Portman) locked in competition with a rival dancer, with the stakes and twists increasing as the dancers approach a big performance. But it‘s unclear whether the rival is a supernatural apparition or if the protagonist is simply delusional.
Timur Bekmambetov, the man behind the "Night Watch" trilogy, and guiding "Wanted" to a surprisingly acclaimed position last year, is back, and talking up the prospects of a "Wanted" sequel. The proposed film, according to the rumours will once again feature Angelina Jolie‘s character. If things go to plan filming will take place in America, India and Russia.
Not only have Sir Ian McKellen (Gandalf) and Andy Serkis (Gollum) agreed to return to Middle Earth and star in Guillermo Del Toro and Peter Jackson‘s version of "The Hobbit", but Hugo Weaving has also been confirmed.
