Our feature presentation: Southland Tales

Southland Tales is out on December 7th. This is from the writer and director of Donnie Darko and shows an apocalyptic view of L.A in 2008. It stars Seann William Scott, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Mandy Moore and Justin Timberlake.

Released the following week there’s two new ones and a classic is re-released.

First up there's "Bee Movie" which has a host of stars including Jerry Seinfeld, Renee Zellweger, Matthew Broderick and Eddie Izzard lending their voices to this buzzing animated comedy about Barry the bee, who decides to sue humans for eating honey.

Then there’s "Mr Magorium's Wonder Emporium" which has eccentric Mr. Edward Magorium (Dustin Hoffman) handing the running of his magical toyshop over to his insecure assistant Molly Mahoney (Natalie Portman), but unfortunately things soon take a turn for the worse.

And also released on December 14th there’s the Christmas classic "It's A Wonderful Life". James Stewart strikes all the emotional buttons playing a suicidal man given the chance to re-evaluate his life, thanks to his guardian angel.

Forthcoming attractions:

Bruce Willis is to star in sci-fi thriller "The Surrogates". The project, based on a graphic novel, reunites director Jonathan Mostow with writers Michael Ferris and John Brancato. It's set in a future where humans live in isolation and interact vicariously through surrogate robots who are better-looking versions of themselves. Willis will play a cop who, through his surrogate, investigates the murders of others' surrogates. But there comes a point when he is forced to venture from his own home for the first time in years to unravel a conspiracy.

Jennifer Garner has signed up to star opposite Ricky Gervais in "This Side Of The Truth". Gervais co-penned this high-concept comedy, which is set in a world where lying doesn't exist. He'll play an everyman who figures out how to lie and uses his newfound ability to woo a beautiful woman who is out of his league and become a successful writer.

Kathy Bates is joining Michelle Pfeiffer and Ashton Kutcher in "Personal Effects". David Hollander will make his big screen debut with the love story that finds Kutcher as a young man seeking vengeance for his sister's murder. But when he arrives back in his home town, he finds himself sidetracked by a beautiful older woman (Pfeiffer). Bates has taken the role of Kutcher's mother.

Shawn Levy will direct and produce Father Figure. It's a change of pace for the "Night At The Museum" director who will this time be angling for a bit of drama. It could well be very sentimental as it’s the story of a wealthy bachelor who offers to care for his recently widowed sister and her children. Cameras will roll after Levy has finished work on a sequel to "Night At The Museum", which starts shooting in spring.

Queen Latifah has signed up for a small role in "What Happens In Vegas". Ashton Kutcher and the aforementioned Cameron Diaz are set to star in this romantic comedy being helmed by British director Tom Vaughan. It's about a couple who wake up after a wild night on the Strip and realise they're hitched. The matter is further complicated after one of them hits the casino jackpot using the other one's small change.

Pierce Brosnan is returning to his role as a smarmy art thief in "The Thomas Crown Affair 2" for MGM. Crown travels around Europe getting mixed up in a "centuries old feud". Rene Russo, the love interest from the 1999 original, will not be returning.

Jada Pinkett Smith will make her directorial debut on a romantic comedy called "The Human Contract". Pinkett Smith, also wrote the script for the film, which follows a wild affair between a buttoned up businessman and a free spirited beauty. Paz Vega has got the female lead, while the businessman will be played by Jason Clarke. Ted Danson and Idris Elba have supporting roles.
