Quotation Quiz:
"Oh, why can't we break away from all this, just you and
I, and lodge with my fleas in the hills? I mean... flee to my
lodge in the hills."
From which film does that slip of the tongue come? The answer
is at the bottom of the page.
Forthcoming attractions:
It was mentioned last month but released on April 29 there’s
"X-Men Origins:Wolverine". Wolverine lives a mutant
life, and seeks revenge against Victor Creed (who will later
become Sabertooth) for the death of his girlfriend, and ultimately
ends up going through the mutant Weapon X program. Stars Hugh
Jackman, Brian Cox, Kodi Smit-McPhee, Ryan Reynolds, Taylor
Kitsch, Liev Schreiber and Lynn Collins.
Continuing the wolf theme, released two days later there’s
"The Wolfman". This stars Benicio Del Toro, Anthony
Hopkins and Emily Blunt, where a British man returns home to
Victorian England from America, only to be bitten by a werewolf
and start the painful transition from man to beast.
Also out on May 1st there’s "The Ghosts of Girlfriends
Past". Connor Mead is an absolute cad who doesn’t
just two-time ladies; he four-times them. But when he goes to
a weekend retreat for a family wedding, he runs into Jenny –
the one that got away. A sleazy dead Uncle tells him that three
ghosts will visit him, in an attempt to change the error of
his ways. Cue the Ghost of Girlfriends Past, who shows him what
life was like in a simpler, happier time when he and Jenny were
in love. Matthew McConaugheyv and Jennifer Garner star.
Released on May 8th, there’s "Star Trek" and
"Coraline". The former basically chronicles the early
days of James T. Kirk and his fellow USS Enterprise crew members

Ryder starring. While the latter, has Coraline (Dakota Fanning)

her own world, with a loving "Other Mother" (Teri

danger lurking. Ian McShane also stars.
And May 15th sees the release of "Angel and Demons"
and "Adventureland". "Angels and Demons"
is another film based on a Dan Brown bestseller. Robert Langdon's

a murder and uncovering a complicated plot by a dangerous order;
The Illuminati. Stars Tom Hanks. "Adventureland" is
based in the summer of '87 and for recent college graduate James,
life after college isn't exactly what he expected. Realising
he can't afford the dream European tour he's been planning he's
forced to take a dead-end job at a local amusement park. Forget
about German beer, world-famous museums and other tourist attractions,
"Adventureland" promises to be the stage for the most
painful summer of his life. However, as he meets new friends,
falls in love and learns to loosen up, he realises that the
worst job ever may just turn out to be the best time of his
life. Kristen Stewart, Ryan Reynolds, Jesse Eisenberg, Martin
Starr, Kristen Wiig and Bill Hader star.

Outside of the "Pirates of the Caribbean" franchise,
it‘s been a quiet few years for Orlando Bloom, appearing
in "Love and Other Disasters" and Cameron Crowe’s
"Elizabethtown", but he is apparently in negotiations
to star in "Main Street", based on Horton Foote’s
final screenplay. Already lined up to appear in the film are
Ellen Burstyn, Patricia Clarkson and Colin Firth. The story
is set in a small, economically decayed US city that's "facing
the consequences of change", amid a group of "diverse"
residents.
Following his Oscar triumph for "Milk", Sean Penn
is set to go for a role in the Farrelly brothers‘ forthcoming
biopic "The Three Stooges". It is also rumoured that
Jim Carrey and Benicio Del Torro are in negotiations to appear
as well. The Farrellys are aiming for a shoot in early 2010.
Having last appeared together in Cameron Crowe‘s "Vanilla
Sky", Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz have decided to appear
together in James Mangold‘s romantic comedy tentatively
entitled "Wichita". 20th Century Fox are hoping to
cash in on the pairing whilst Tom Cruise has another go at some
rom–com. The story revolves around a woman who has terrible
luck with men but finds her path intertwined with that of a
mysterious, handsome man she meets on a blind date.
Simon Pegg looks to have signed on to provide a voice in "Ice
Age 3: Dawn of the Dinosaurs". He will voice a character
called Buck, who is apparently, a "larger than life, swashbuckling,
one-eyed weasel". The story sees Buck help mammoth Manny
(Ray Romano), sloth Sid (John Leguizamo) and sabretooth tiger
Diego (Dennis Leary) when they fall into the lost world beneath
the Ice Age where dinosaurs still roam. Queen Latifah, Josh
Peck and Seann William Scott also star, and is due for release
on July 1.
It looks like Pierce Brosnan, Uma Thurman and Sean Bean have
signed on to star in Chris Columbus’ new adventure comedy,
"Percy Jackson", about the adventures of Poseidon’s
12 year-old half-human son. Logan Lerman, has already signed
on to play the title character, who sets off across America
in an attempt to save his mum, and to stop a war between the
Gods. Thurman is to play the traditionally snake-haired, Medusa,
Brosnan the centaur god, Chiron, while Bean will play Zeus,
whose lightning bolt is stolen at the story's inception. Other
stars potentially involved, include Brandon T. Jackson, Kevin
McKidd and Melina Kanakerides. The film, which is based on Rick
Riordan’s series of children’s novels, ‘Percy
Jackson & The Olympians‘, is an adaptation of the
first book, "The Lightning Thief". Filming begins
next month in Vancouver, with a 2010 release.
